CARING FOR YOU PADS IS SIMPLE. LOOK AFTER THEM AND YOU WILL GET MANY YEARS USE.
HOW DO I WASH MY CLOTH PADS?Every Woman develops her own style, so this is just a guide. There is no right or wrong way.
However to lengthen the lifespan of your pad, I recommend washing soon after use, and dry without delay. The longer you leave it, the harder it will be to wash. If you have the energy, washing out your pads quickly means they will last longer, and they may even be dry enough to use again in the same cycle . MACHINE WAY:Simply soak and rinse several times in COLD water, shifting out as much blood as you can - you will need to be quite vigorous. Agitate and Squeeze.
Pop in the washing machine with your regular load - again, on a cold cycle. If you are not ready to do a load of washing, you may soak for up to 3 days, changing the soak water daily. Please don't forget about your pads and go and holiday, like I did. They will eventually smell! Finally, line dry for all your neighbours to see! |
HAND-WASH WAY:
In a bucket, simply rinse and soak several times in plain COLD water. Throw this water on your
garden if that doesn't feel too weird to do. Your garden will love it. (Dilute for native plants.)
Continue to handwash, now with a little fabric detergent, and rinse until the water runs clear.
(Do not use soap, or be tempted to rub soap directly into the pad. It will only clog it up.)
Discard your wash water. Line dry in the Sun if possible, as the Sun is naturally antibacterial.
.
Your pad has PUL (waterproofer), so please DO NOT iron or tumble dry as it could melt this layer.
Fabric softener is not recommended - it can affect the absorbency.
Liners may be ironed and sprinkled with your favorite essential oil, if you are bursting with
domestic joy.
TIP: A small addition of ammonia to wash water may help shift stubborn stains.
